Getting Started with iziCast on iPhone and iPad

Last updated October 15, 2026

iziCast sends audio from your iPhone or iPad to a VosCast Icecast or SHOUTcast server. You can broadcast a microphone, a compatible external audio device, local audio files, or an Audiobus-connected app. Start with one audio source so you can check the connection before building a more complicated mix.

Get ready

Install iziCast through the App Store link on its official website. Keep your device powered and use a reliable internet connection for the duration of your show. Mobile broadcasting uses your data allowance as well as battery power.

Open Overview → Live broadcasting in your VosCast account. Keep that page available on another screen, or copy the connection details somewhere private before opening iziCast.

Stop VosCast's hosted Auto DJ before connecting directly. Also disconnect any other live encoder using the station. Your phone sends the live programme; it does not upload its music library to hosted Auto DJ.

Add your VosCast server

Tap Add on iziCast's main screen and give the server a recognisable name. Select the server type shown in your VosCast account, then use the matching settings below.

Icecast

iziCast setting Your VosCast value
Server type Icecast
Server address Server address / Host, without a URL scheme, port, or path
Port Standard port
User source
Password Broadcast password, not your account or server admin password
Mountpoint The exact Mount point in your account, including its leading slash; normally /stream

Use the standard connection with SSL/TLS off. The separate TLS port (SSL) shown in your account belongs to a TLS-enabled connection; do not use it as a replacement for the standard port in this walkthrough. See BUTT for a desktop encoder with explicit TLS settings.

Preserve a custom mount exactly as displayed. Changing it can send audio somewhere other than the stream your existing players expect.

SHOUTcast

Choose Shoutcast and enter your account's Server address / Host, Server port (SHOUTcast), and Broadcast password. Use the displayed base port without adding one yourself.

iziCast supports SHOUTcast through its legacy compatibility mode. Use the password as supplied; leave User and Stream ID unset for this connection. Icecast's username, mount point, and TLS-port settings do not apply to this profile.

Add your station website and genre if wanted, then save the server.

Choose audio and MP3 settings

Select MP3 as the streaming codec and a bitrate at or below the Maximum Bitrate in your account. For example, a station with a 128 kbps maximum must use 128 kbps or less. Avoid changing codec or bitrate during a show.

Choose the input carrying your programme:

  • Built-in microphone: allow microphone access when iOS asks. If previously denied, enable it for iziCast in the device's privacy settings.
  • External mixer or interface: connect a compatible USB audio device using the appropriate USB-C connection or Lightning adapter, then select that device and its input channels in iziCast. A headphone socket is not a stereo line input.
  • Local files: add audio through iziCast's playlist and check that playback reaches its meters.
  • Another app: use a supported Audiobus connection. Playing audio in an unrelated app does not automatically send it to the broadcast.

Start the intended source and watch the level meter. Adjust its level so speech and music remain clear without clipping. If combining sources, check each source's volume and mute state separately.

Broadcast and monitor

Select your saved server and press the Play control to connect. Confirm that iziCast shows an active broadcast, then open your VosCast listening link on another device to check what listeners receive.

Use headphones for local monitoring. Keep the listener player away from your broadcast microphone, and do not route its delayed audio back into the input. Recheck the selected input after plugging in a headset or interface; changing hardware can change your audio route.

At the end, stop broadcasting in iziCast. Restart VosCast Auto DJ manually if you want your hosted programme to resume.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot connect: compare the protocol, host, port, and broadcast password with your account. Check that hosted Auto DJ and other encoders are stopped.
  • Icecast connection fails: verify source, the exact mount, and the standard-port/TLS choice.
  • Connected but silent: check microphone permission, the selected input, source playback, and mute controls.
  • Dropouts: check your Wi-Fi or mobile signal and try a lower bitrate within your plan.
  • Interface has no audio: check its power, adapter, and selected channels. Follow the manufacturer's compatibility instructions.
