RadioBOSS is Windows software for playing music, organising a programme, and sending audio to your streaming server. This guide uses its built-in encoder to connect directly to VosCast.
Before you start
Install RadioBOSS from the official DJSoft website. Open Overview → Live broadcasting in your VosCast account. Use the server type assigned to your station and keep its connection fields available.
Stop hosted VosCast Auto DJ before connecting RadioBOSS. Another presenter must also disconnect before you take over the live stream. RadioBOSS runs on your computer throughout the programme; it does not upload your library into hosted Auto DJ.
Add the VosCast encoder
Open Settings → Options, select Broadcast, and press + to add an encoder. On the Connection tab, choose Configuration Wizard and select the appropriate server type below. Choose a connection to your existing VosCast server, rather than starting a built-in server on your computer.
The wizard separates the host and port. In its server-address field, enter only the account's Server address / Host, without http://, https://, a port, or a path. The main Connection tab has a combined Server field; let the wizard build that value.
Icecast
Choose Icecast in the wizard and enter these values:
| Connection value | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Server address | Your account's Server address / Host |
| Port | Your account's Standard port |
| Username, if requested | source |
| Password | Your Broadcast password, not your VosCast account or server admin password |
| Mount point | The exact account Mount point, including the leading slash; normally /stream |
Complete the wizard and leave TLS/SSL unchecked on the Connection tab for this standard-port setup. Do not substitute the account's TLS port into it. Keep any existing custom mount unchanged: changing it can leave your website player listening to a different stream.
SHOUTcast
Choose SHOUTcast v1 for this walkthrough, including a VosCast SHOUTcast 2 server accepting a compatible v1 source connection. Enter your account's host, Server port (SHOUTcast), and Broadcast password.
Use the base port exactly as displayed in your account; do not manually add one. This profile does not use an Icecast mount, a source username, or a stream-ID suffix on the password. Leave TLS/SSL off.
Set the format and programme source
On the Connection tab, choose MP3 as the Encoder, a Sample rate of 44100, and the appropriate Channels. Set Bitrate (kbps) at or below the Maximum Bitrate shown in your VosCast account. Give the encoder a recognisable display name and save it.
In Broadcast settings, use Source → Audio mix to send RadioBOSS playlist audio. If your programme instead comes from an external mixer, configure the corresponding input and select Input 1, Input 2, or Input 3. Confirm the intended music and microphone routing before going on air.
Complete your station name and other details under Station Info. Keep Metadata and Statistics settings at their defaults for the initial connection; listener statistics are separate from whether audio is reaching the server.
Connect and check the audio
- Start your programme audio in RadioBOSS.
- In Settings → Options → Broadcast, tick the VosCast encoder and enable Broadcasting enabled, then select OK.
- Check the connection report for a successful server connection.
- Open the listening link from your VosCast account on another device. Listen to music and speech, and check a track change if you send song titles.
- When the show ends, turn off Broadcasting enabled to disconnect. Restart hosted Auto DJ separately from VosCast if required.
Use headphones when checking the listener stream so delayed playback does not feed back into a live microphone.
Troubleshooting
- Connection refused or timed out: recheck the host, server type and port. For Icecast, pair the Standard port with TLS/SSL off.
- Password or source error: copy the Broadcast password again. Check the Icecast mount and login, and confirm that hosted Auto DJ and other presenters are disconnected.
- Connected but silent: check playback, levels and the selected Source. A working server connection does not confirm that the right audio input is selected.
- Listeners hear the wrong stream: compare the player's address with the account's listening link and Mount point.
