For listening on an iPhone or iPad, start with the station's browser player and our current mobile listening guide. You do not need Radio Lite to use a working browser player.
This article originally described Radio Lite on a third-generation iPod Touch in 2011. Its app screens, pricing and installation steps should not be treated as instructions for current iOS devices.
Listen in Safari
- Open the station's Quick Listen Link or website player page in Safari.
- Tap Play on the player. A page may wait for your tap before it can play sound.
- Adjust the device volume while the station is playing, and check the player's own mute or volume control.
- If you hear nothing, check whether audio is going to Bluetooth headphones, a speaker or another output.
Station owners can find their Quick Listen Link in Overview in the VosCast account. Share the public listening page, without account or broadcasting credentials.
Choose the right address for a radio app
If you already use Radio Lite or another radio app, follow that app's instructions for adding a custom stream. Its URL field may need the direct audio stream, rather than the Quick Listen web page, station homepage or server status page.
Ask the station for the correct address. Station owners can use Copy Stream URL in the VosCast account's Overview where offered, then test that it opens audio rather than a status page. Ask support for the direct listener address if needed. Preserve the full address, including its scheme, port, path and any query parameters, when the app asks for a complete URL. If it has separate host and port fields, follow those field labels instead.
The older Radio Lite walkthrough used a hostname-and-port entry. Do not apply that app-specific format to every player: an Icecast stream can also need its exact mount path, and an HTTPS stream must use an endpoint that actually supports TLS.
If an existing app will not play
Compare the same station in Safari. If the browser player works, check the app's stored listening address and supported stream formats. A favourite saved before a station changed its host, port or mount can need updating.
If neither the app nor browser plays, check your connection and ask whether the station is on air. Use the mobile listening checks before changing broadcaster settings; a listener does not need a source password to play a public stream.
Background listening
After starting playback, try switching apps or locking the screen if you want to listen in the background. Continued playback and lock-screen controls depend on the app or browser, device and operating-system settings. The old iPod screenshots do not establish how a current app handles them.
If playback stops, return to the station page or app and press Play again. See the current mobile guide for further connection and audio-output checks.
